Mathematics is one of the most important tools of a physicist. Thus, you will need to have sufficient knowledge of the methods and rules of mathematics in order to follow lectures in physics. Our preparatory courses in mathematics help you refresh and deepen your knowledge of mathematics in order to fill in any gaps before the lecture period starts.
OMB+ online preparatory course in mathematics for physics students
In the comfort of your own home, you can refresh and deepen your knowledge of mathematics in an online preparatory course (in German). You will have plenty of opportunity to practice and improve your skills at your own pace.
Preparatory course in mathematics from the Department of Mathematics
University mathematics requires a high level of creativity and the ability to think in abstract terms. The preparatory course from the Department of Mathematics facilitates the transition to university mathematics by introducing you to the abstract approach typical for university mathematics and giving you plenty of opportunity to practice using it. Only a very small part will be about calculation or the application of mathematics to practical problems. Getting to know this kind of mathematics, which is different from what you learned in school, may help you decide between the mathematical and applied approaches to your field of study.
Preparatory course in mathematics from the Department of Physics
Two weeks before the lecture period starts, the Department of Physics also offers an on-campus preparatory course in the calculation methods used in physics, during which you can also take the opportunity to get to know your future fellow students.
